Simpson’s Tavern, Ball Court, 38 1/2 Cornhill, London, EC3V 9DR:
This is a brilliant place to eat lunch in the City (as long as you’re not a vegetarian). Ambiance is fantastic, and very sociable. Expect to share tables. The food’s honest and of a high quality - and extremely reasonably priced.
It’s been here since the 1750s, and can be found halfway down an alley off Cornhill. They started serving female customers in 1916.
