Alvis TE21 (1963)
At first glance I said: “wow, they made convertible Facel HK500?!”
And as it turns out they did, but this isn’t one of those, neither a HK500. So I learned two things instead of one! This is the last road car Alvis produced before focusing on the tank business.
For a 1500kg six-cylinder luxury baththub, the TE/TF21 performed reasonably well, with 150bhp to power the rear wheels and with power steering already available from 1965. But as you can tell by looking at it, it wasn’t about performance.
Alvis surely deserves more credit, since they pretty much have softened the ground and the carpets for Bentley and Jaguar.
